How to create your first profile

First, sign up. Then open the sidebar and tap Add Profile. You'll need four things: your name, date of birth, birth time (as exact as you can get it, the minutes matter), and birth place. We use these to compute your Kundali in the sidereal zodiac, the way Vedic astrology has always calculated charts. Each account holds up to five profiles, so you can add a partner, parents, or your kids as well.

Understanding your birth chart

Think of your Kundali as a photograph of the sky taken the moment you were born. Every planet is frozen in place, in a specific sign and a specific house, and one sign was rising on the eastern horizon. That rising sign is your Lagna, and most Vedic readings start there. Hit View Chart and you'll land on four tabs: Planets, Houses, Dashas, Yogas. Each one answers a different question about the same chart.

How to chat with Jyotis

Accepted Answer

Pick a profile from the sidebar. If the question isn't chart-specific, switch to General mode instead. Then type whatever's on your mind in your own words. No special format, no keywords, ask it the way you'd ask a friend. Before Jyotis answers, it pulls up your actual chart and reads it against the question, so the reply is keyed to your placements rather than horoscope-column generalizations.

Switching between Hindi and English

Accepted Answer

There is a language toggle in the header and another in the footer. Tap either one. You have three choices: English, Hinglish (Hindi written in Roman letters, like "aap kaise hain"), and हिंदी in Devanagari. We remember what you pick, so the next visit starts in the right language.

Your Birth Chart explained

Accepted Answer

Open View Chart and you'll see four tabs. The first, Planets, lists every graha with its sign, nakshatra, and exact degree. The Houses tab takes the same information and rearranges it by bhava, so at a glance you can see which planets occupy each house. Dashas tells you where you are in the long cycle of planetary periods: your current Mahadasha and the Antardasha nested inside it. Yogas picks out the combinations in your chart worth paying attention to, and most charts have a few.

Cosmic Card: your personal astrology snapshot

Accepted Answer

Your Cosmic Card is a one-page summary of who you are astrologically. It lists your Sun sign, Moon sign, Rising sign, Moon's nakshatra, the dasha you're currently walking through, and the single yoga that most defines your chart. Download it as a PNG or share it straight to WhatsApp, Instagram stories, wherever. It is meant to be passed around.

Today's Cosmic Calendar: the daily panchang

Accepted Answer

The Cosmic Calendar is your daily panchang. You get today's tithi (lunar day), the reigning nakshatra, yoga, karana, and the Rahu Kaal window that Vedic tradition suggests you avoid for new beginnings. It updates automatically for your time zone, so what you see is what's actually running overhead right now.

Muhurta: finding auspicious timing

Accepted Answer

Muhurta is the Vedic way of choosing the right moment for something important. New business, a contract signing, travel, a ceremony, any moment where timing feels like it matters. Ask Jyotis something like "What's a good muhurta for signing my lease next week?" and you'll get specific date-and-time windows back, with the reasoning attached: which planets support it, which to avoid, what the panchang looks like in that slot.

Compatibility check

Tap Compatibility in the sidebar and pick any two profiles. Jyotis runs the traditional 36-point Ashtakoot analysis, the same eight-koota system Indian families have used for matchmaking for centuries. You get a score for each koota, the total out of 36, and notes in plain English on where the match is strong and where it will take real work.

What is a Mahadasha / Antardasha?

Vedic astrology treats your life as a sequence of planetary chapters. A Mahadasha is the chapter itself, ruled by one planet, and it lasts anywhere from 6 to 20 years depending on which planet is at the helm. Inside every Mahadasha are nine Antardashas, much shorter, each governed by one of the nine grahas (Sun through Ketu). The combination of the two is what shapes the actual mood and themes of any given year.

What are Yogas in your chart?

In Jyotish, a yoga is a named planetary combination that produces a specific life pattern: wealth, leadership, recurring struggle, spiritual depth, public recognition, whatever it happens to be. Classical texts catalog hundreds. Your chart usually triggers a handful, and we pull out the ones that matter most so you are not drowning in minor combinations.

How planetary transits affect you

A transit is a planet's current position in the sky, measured against where it sat when you were born. Fast planets (Moon, Mercury, Venus) shift quickly and mostly influence day-to-day rhythm. The slow ones are what you feel as phases. Jupiter crossing your rising sign can open doors. Saturn passing over your Moon can slow you right down. Rahu on a sensitive house can feel like a whole chapter reshuffling. Jyotis watches the transits that are actually relevant to you and flags them as they happen.

What is Sade Sati?

Accepted Answer

Sade Sati is a seven-and-a-half-year stretch when Saturn transits three signs in sequence: the one before your Moon sign, your Moon sign itself, and the one after. That is roughly two and a half years in each. It has a reputation for being hard, and sometimes it is, but calling it unlucky misses the point. Saturn is the planet of effort and responsibility, so this tends to be the period that matures people. Jyotis will tell you whether you are currently in it, which phase, and what it is asking of you this time around.

Managing your profiles

Accepted Answer

Every profile lives in the sidebar. Tap one to select it, or hit the menu icon to edit or delete. You are capped at five per account. Editing is useful if you finally get a verified birth time from your parents, or realize the hospital was actually in the next town. The moment you save, the Kundali recalculates from scratch. Deleting a profile wipes its chat history too, so do not delete something you might want to revisit.

Language settings

Accepted Answer

Three places you can switch language: the toggle in the header, the toggle in the footer, or Settings. Pick English, Hinglish, or हिंदी and everything switches at once. That means the nav, Jyotis's chat replies, the labels on your chart, and the panchang terms (tithi, nakshatra, yoga, and the rest) all follow the same language. Your setting sticks across sessions.

Privacy and data

Accepted Answer

Nothing you enter is shared outside your account. Your birth details, your chats, your profiles, private by default, never resold to third parties, not fed into advertising. Delete a profile and we delete the chart and the chat history that went with it. If you want the exact legal language, our Privacy Policy spells it out.

Is this real astrology or just AI?

Accepted Answer

Both, and the line between them matters. The chart math is real astronomy, the same precise sidereal calculations a working Vedic astrologer does on paper. The interpretations are grounded in the classical texts of Jyotish. The AI is the part that turns all of that into a conversation, so you can ask questions and get answers in plain English. It does not invent astrology from nothing.

How accurate are the predictions?

The chart itself is exact, down to the degree. The interpretations are grounded in classical principles applied to your specific placements, so they are not generic. Astrology, though, describes probabilities and themes, not fixed outcomes. Think of a reading as one useful lens, not the final word, and weigh it against your own judgement and context.

Can I ask about other people's charts?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You add them as a profile with their birth details, then select that profile before you start chatting. A compatibility reading needs two profiles active, both with known birth times. One thing we ask: only add people whose information you have their consent to use.

Question 20

What classical texts does Jyotis use?

Accepted Answer

The interpretive layer rests on the foundational Jyotish canon: Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (often just called BPHS), Saravali, Phaladeepika, Brihat Jataka, and Jataka Parijata. If you have ever consulted a serious Vedic astrologer, these are the same texts they have studied.

Is my data private?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Birth details and chats are private to your account, we do not sell data, and you can delete anything you have added whenever you like. The Privacy Policy has the specifics if you want them.
